Mortal Kombat 20 years

Postby Silver_Surfer1 » Fri Aug 21, '15, 3:42 am

Hard to believe it's been 20 years since the first "Mortal Kombat" movie came out based on the video game of the same name.

I can still remember seeing this movie for the first time and how I loved it. I think one thing that really got my attention (besides all the fighting) was actor Christopher Lambert as Raiden. Needless to say I have always been a huge fan of the "Highlander" movies starring Lambert also.

Anyone else remember the "Mortal Kombat" movies, and if so what did you like best ab out them?

Fun fact: This was my first R-rated movie. I only found out a couple years ago that this was just a really loose remake of Enter the Dragon (another excellent film.)

My favorite part is the Johnny Cage vs. Goro fight, mostly for the highly profane line I can't repeat here about Johnny's sunglasses. It's so memetic that Mortal Kombat X actually references it.

Nakama: A Card Game of Magical Girls - A completely un-playtested card game about being a magical girl.

Well, excuse me while I defy all laws of logic and common sense and do it anyway.

The first movie was great. Cheesy in some ways, but really fun to watch. I'll have to pull out the DVD and watch it again. It's been so long I can't recall the line Snorb's speaking of, and I loved that fight. I never knew this film was a remake of Enter the Dragon, though. That's a new one to me.

I refuse to remember the second Mortal Kombat movie. It just lacked all the charm of the first one. The mostly changed cast didn't help it, either.
