Mini Rain Tornado hit’s my city

Postby Lucas » Tue Mar 20, '12, 2:16 am

So at about 5am this morning while driving to work, I happened to drive through a thrashing rainy storm and could hardly see what was in front of me, because it was so dark and wet. I arrived at work okay however, and thought nothing more of it other some very violent rain and wind. Turns out in other parts of my city it was a whole lot worse. Many homes lost their roof, fences and trees. Many people are assumed to have been injured as well. Personally I’m really over this wet-season! :fiery:

More photos of the devastation I’ve just come across. Just a note us residents were warned by the weather stations and News to expect more rain in the coming days but nobody predicted a tornado that would tear apart houses in only ten-minutes then vanish. Very scary stuff.

That's just awful Lucas! So sorry for the residents there that suffered damage, etc. Very glad you are safe though. I don't know how you managed to drive to work in all that bad weather!!!

I agree that tornadoes (and other storms like this) are very scary. March is known as tornado season here in the US and this year's weather has been extremely hard on many states already.

Tornadoes are terribly dangerous, but these sudden ones are the worst of all. I'm glad you got through it okay Lucas, but I really feel for the people who didn't. I saw some damage from a tornado about a month ago that ripped up trees and totaled houses. Terrible stuff. I'm ready for this kind of weather to be over with, too.

My older brother, who used to live 3 years in Martinique, and he faced a Cyclone (unfortunately common on the island...) and yes that's so impressive to see the force of Nature...

I’ve faced many cyclones as well, fortunately people can track them and give you warnings and stuff we had a huge cyclone at the beginning of last year called "Yasi" which was a category 5 cyclone. This tornado thing however was another story entirely, I’m aware the US gets them regularly much like we get cyclones regularly. Interestingly enough it’s a very sunny day today. I think our weather is broken.

Anyway the good news is we’ve had no deaths, bad news over 60 houses/ building were destroyed during the event.

There was no deaths ? OUF...Actually we can track them : I said that we cannot really prevent them but we can warn the people for a lot of natural dangers, which is very important.
