Micro chip implants

Postby Silver_Surfer1 » Tue Jul 25, '17, 9:52 pm

One company is beginning to have micro chip implants in their employees with the employees permission. The micro chips will help getting in the building and with getting food. What does everyone think of this? Is this the wave of the future? Would you get a micro chip implanted in your body?

Well, it's voluntary, which is the better way to do it. If it was mandatory I'd have a problem with it. As long as the chips aren't used for excessive monitoring and that and seems to be used for employee convenience, I don't see the problem with it. In a way it seems to be more or less exactly how I use my own ID card at work - it's an ID scanner for me to get into my department, and nothing more. Sure you can argue slippery slope, but then I'd argue that slippery slope started with ID cards with magnetic stripes.

And for note, we recently microchipped our cats.

Yeah, I can see the advantage of having pets microchipped in case they get lost for some reason and can not find their way back home. It would be a big help in letting an animal shelter or other facility be able to find the stay animals owners. The pets can not talk to say their name or where they live, and many times that information is not put on their collars, etc. Any responsible pet owner would want to try and do everything they can to help their pets in any situation, etc.

However, I think it is a bit different in regards to people than it is in animals.
