Manhunt 2 video game

Postby Silver_Surfer1 » Tue Oct 16, '07, 11:13 pm

I saw a news clip today about this video game, Manhunt 2, being banned in Britian, I think it was. Anyone hear anything about this, or know anything about this game?

I have to say that after reading just a little about it, I can certainly understand why it was banned. :dizzy:

I hadn't heard about this, but I know Britain has banned some other games before. If I remember the stories right, many of those were over violence as well.

One thing that was no shock at all when I read the article was that Take Two is involved. They really love to push the envelope when it comes to game content. Sometimes they go too far and have had problems with that before.

This one is new to me, but hearing that Take Two is involved explains a lot. They do seem to be building a reputation of having problems from the content they include in their games.

I have a friend who will be spending his holiday here with us next month. He lives in the UK and was livid that the game was banned, and since we reserved the game.. well.. he will be playing it eventually.

I will probably just sit and watch.

That makes me wonder if a banned game can be imported. The ban would surely mean it can't be sold in the UK, but would someone be able to buy it outside the UK and take it back with them?

I would imagine not. If it's banned, it would probably be confiscated when they tried to bring it into the country.

Heard on the news this morning that a major chain store, Target has taken the game "Manhunt 2" off their store shelves because they say it is "too violent".

Uh oh, people will really go after this game and want to buy it now. The more unavailable it is, the more people will want it.

I wonder if other stores will follow Target's lead. :hmm:

Looks like Manhunt 2 will be released in the UK after all:

What do you think?

I think it still looks like a very violent game. :yaknow:

I'm not quite sure what this "18 certificate" they keep talking about is, but I'm surprised the game will be allowed in. I've never heard of an attempt at game censorship actually failing before.

I think "18 certificate" is pretty much the UK's equivalent to a game being rated M over here in the states.
