Such a bias toward dogs... but yes, this can be a dangerous time of year. It's a good piece of advice to keep pets, especially cats, away from Christmas trees. Don't use glass ornaments, either - cat climbs tree, ornaments fall, you've got glass all over the place.

Another tip that I learned a few years ago - keep the shiny icicle stuff that we sometimes put on Christmas trees away from your cats. It could be dangerous if they swallowed it.

After reading about this, we just stopped using the stuff. Sure, it makes the tree pretty but it can be messy as it falls off the tree a lot and seems to stick to you every time you get anywhere near the tree, but most of all, I had rather be safe for my cats.
