Jay Leno Show

Postby Silver_Surfer1 » Tue Sep 1, '09, 4:38 am

The new Jay Leno show on NBC starts pretty soon in a couple of weeks. I think I heard it was around September 14.

So, how do you think Jay will do in the timeslot he is in now? Will you watch his show?

I'll probably pass. Talk shows don't interest me at all.

Leno's new show premieres tonight on NBC. I wish him luck. From what I have read, this show will be a little different than his old "Tonight" shows. He is supposed to have more comedy, less talk, I think. I may tune in just to see how it goes tonight.

Anyone else going to watch Leno tonight? If so, let us know what you think of the new show.

Well, it looks as if Jay Leno's new prime time show didn't quite make it in prime time, so they are now thinking about moving Jay's show back an hour or so, and moving "The Tonight Show" with Conan O'Brian also back, etc.:

It will be interesting to see how they eventually wind up doing this. :yaknow:

I'm not sure why they thought that this was going to work anyway. From what little I saw and heard about Leno's show, it was basically the Tonight Show without the name. I expect this deal with the new time slots will go through, but it probably won't improve the shows' ratings.

From reading the article below, it sounds like Leno and O'Brian may not have been too happy about this turn of events:

I think NBC is afraid of losing either Leno or O'Brian, or both of them. They should have let Jay stay with Tonight or just let him go to another network, especially if they were not going to support him very much by keeping this new show going.

Conan's definitely not happy: he's leaving the Tonight Show if it moves. He's said he won't host the show at the later time. That makes me wonder who will replace him.

Thoul, it looks like you may be right about Conan possibly leaving, etc.

http://www.tvguide.com/News/Report-Cona ... 13752.aspx

I have to say that if Conan leaves, I wouldn't care at all. I'm not too big a fan of his, however, I do feel it seems as if he got a little bit of a bad deal here, or something. I mean, it seemed as if Leno wanted to retire, so they promoted Conan and gave him the reigns, then Leno decided to stay and they gave him another show, which was all well and good, but then they reneg on Leno and now it's come down to losing Conan. Are these people in their right minds, or what? Granted, this is making them some high ratings in the late night wars right now, but what's going to happen in the long term scheme of things. They'll be lucky if they don't wind up losing both Conan and Leno. :yaknow:

Jay Leno was a recent guest on Oprah's talk show and here's some of what he had to say about all this:
