At TGS 2010. It was very brief. But it was officially announced. For now, all we know is that it will be for the PC. Great news for those waiting for this

Interesting. Funny thing is I just stopped playing Phantasy Star Online Episode I & II Plus (Gamecube) and signed on Fringes to find this. This calls for me to play some more PSO later tonight.

Ohhh, I missed it. Thanks for the news. :)

Are there any videos of the announcement floating around? Back for the original, we have a great time dissecting the announcement video on the old PSDB.

Not yet. The best thing to do is always to follow the news on bumped.org/psublog . I get all my news from there

EDIT: Well there always the TGS video where it was announced. But all you'll see is the logo at the last few seconds

Thanks for the link, :)

Hm, well, I was hoping for a better trailer than that. Sega keeps recycling these timeline concept trailers. It's like they think no one knows PS Online or Universe was released. Ah well, more will come later.

According to a story on andriasang, Sakai said the game will be a "completely new title," so it might not have strong story connections to the first.

Now this is only my own personal opinion, but Sakai is really full of BS when it comes to storyline anyway. It will surely connect at some point. After all, this is the same man who said that there was no link at all with the PSU saga to any other series when it was first released, and is making a complete 180 by putting a concrete direct link to PSO now, after putting more and more PSO cameos over the course of the years. So his words don't hold a lot of credibility for me. At least, he seems to know how to make a good online Multiplayer hack-and-slash, but really, except if Rieko Kodama herself come out of her prison and told us she will take care of the story for the next Phantasy Star, I don't put too much attention to the storyline now.

Eh.. Didn't Naka have more to do with the plots of PS than Kodama?

She only did the plot on one game if I recall.. I found a list..

Phantasy Star - Creator (Writer), Executive Designer
Phantasy Star 2 - Executive Designer
Phantasy Star 4 - Director, Environment, Object, Event Designer

If she did write the plot of 2 and 4, then I can understand people wanting her back.

But the problem is people put her as a god like figure who could make the perfect Phantasy Star and only she could do it.

She isn't that good. It was a team effort anyways.

Back for the original, we have a great time dissecting the announcement video on the old PSDB.

Haha Thoul.. I remember that. I was there.. Ripp and Maxx took the whole original teaser trailer and paused it frame by frame and analyzed each section. They analyzed the blackedout parts.. Oh such good times!

I am really eager to see how this unravels. I'll want this game for certain.

Hoping they keep the sci-fi theme of PSO/PSU and not go down the creepy medieval/cowboy PS-0 route.

For now, Sakai is saying that development for this game is still not very advanced. It's just that since it was PSO 10th anniversary, he wanted to do the official announcement for TGS, but not to expect anything anytime soon. For now, he say we should concentrate on Phantasy Star Portable 2 Infinity, which is the first part of PSO 10th anniversary.

So that mean you'll have to wait a while before anything new unfortunately

Aw.. Thoul won't reminisce with me about old times on the PSDB with the original PSO teaser trailer.. The one with the blacked out silhouettes..

Such good times.
