Yeah yeah, I haven't logged in in a very long time. Been busy with my personal life. :P

Anyway, for those who didn't already know, one of the biggest steam locomotives ever built has been going under a restoration since January 2014, and it's nearly finished. Here's the link.

UPDATE! Big Boy 4014 is full of steam and the crew is making some final adjustments! It blows it's whistle after about 40 years of sitting in a museum. :D

(UPDATE! again :P) He's on a main line pulling trains again :D

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RR7Q27cIEvo A much better view than through a fence hole XD
EDIT: If you prefer not to watch the whole 30+ minute video, skip to about 6:31 to see a better camera angle :D

To give you an idea of how giant this train is....
https://www.google.com/search?q=person+ ... VmkrDne8AM:

It has 16 drive wheels, each about 68 inches in height, from coupler to coupler, it's about 132 feet long, with fuel and water it weighs about 1.2 million pounds, and on level track can pull 7,000 tons of freight at 80 mph, without help from another engine. :D It was made along with 25 other 'Big Boys' to help fight WW2. German spies reported it to their leader as a 'super train', and their leaders dismissed it as impossible. Big Boy proved them wrong. :D

Sadly, when Diesels took over in 1960, only 8 Big Boys were saved from scrap. But at least this one is back showing it's magnificence :D
