myau, I'm sorry it took so long for me to respond, my brain's been in a fuzz, but thank you very much, man! How have you been, by the way? I haven't seen you in a while.

I'm personally not at all familiar with the barcarolle form. I do think it's pretty cool that this was apparently based on the style. Makes sense, the 6/8 rhythm does actually emulate the motion of the dipping, rowing, and drawing of the oars. I always find it neat how music and language often have very natural antecedents in human life.

I finally took the time to start listening to these melodies. Good work!

I do not know why people seem to dislike this composition. Yes, it sounds awful in the game (as many others from that game, and even many from the Genesis).

But the composition is good (simple, but good). I did not know the specific name for "boat songs", but I did hear similarities with the boat songs from Dragon Quest, and Mr. Sugiyama used his classical training to compose those.

Thank you, Icecypher! I agree, I actually like this one. It's well-composed, though simple, like you said, and I just like the main melody. It's very trance-like and soothing.

I never expected to hear a cover from this track so I am even more happy to listen to it. Very relaxing song covered in a very good way. Thanks you!

Heeh, how did I miss this?

Nice rendition. You just proved in under 50 seconds that some of PS3's best pieces were ruined by the sound designer's poor choice of synth samples. Also, as usual, you're giving me an idea, which will probably just remain an idea because: time. But hey, it's good to dream. Nice work Bragaman!

Thank you both very much! I'm happy to have done this one, Apprentice_of_Crys, definitely not the most well-known Phantasy Star theme in the world but I did like it. I need to get around to doing some more PS III stuff.

Yeah, Aero, the synth choices in PS III are really bizarre. I wonder if this had something to do with the generally screwed up development of the game. The Genesis does tend to have harsher, grainier sounds in comparison to the SNES, but the other Genesis era PS games had pretty nice tones. Despite this I actually like the PS III soundtrack in its original form. It has a nice (and grainy) character.
