Interesting story.

My first thought was "more power to 'em", lol. :p

I wonder, are there any other species of animals where there are only one particular gender - just all male or all female???

Hmm, that is interesting. I don't know of any other species like this offhand, but I am no biologist. I imagine they exist, possibly in the deepest parts of unexplored rain forests and the depths of the ocean.

This reminds me of a story I read a few years ago about a female hammerhead shark who somehow had a pup, but there was no evidence of her having had any mate. I found it interesting.

Fascinating. I'm surprised to find that this has actually happened in a real life species. It sounds like something out of science fiction.

I'm a bit disappointed that the researchers couldn't leave the ants to develop naturally, though. The part about attempting to stimulate the development of males comes across as someone trying to play god.
