I know someone here has to know how to edit palletes in Nes roms, would anyone be able to help me do some pallete and color changing for a rom of mine. I'm trying to do more of my Megaman runs but I have a hack for 2 where Megaman is Roll but she's blue, I wanted her to be the color like she is in the Megaman 1 hack I got, and also hoping someone could do the same with changing Megamans sprite to hers as well in Megaman 3. Plz someone help me..

I've only modified Genesis palettes, but these should get you there:
NES Palette hacking: The Fast way
Palette Modifications of an NES file using a Hex Editor

*Cries* I found a program called Nesticle (weird name I know) and I got all the colors of the pallete I want to their correct colors, the only problems are...

1: I can't put the program in Windowed mode so I can record the game
2: I can't patch the file as it only lets me view my changes not save them >.<.
3: Hex editing the colors is complicated and I can't find nor do I understand the concept of using hex >.<

Anyone.. someone.. help *cries*

Well, I can't help a whole lot, Kaloes. But maybe this will help you on problem three?

I don't know if it actually will help, but I guess a guide to one hex editor might help you out understanding doing anything with hex.

Its still complicated as hell though, I guess I'll have to figure something out. If not then I guess my quest for editing colors in 1 game is over >.<

I was wondering, If I gave the values of the original numbers and then the values of the numbers I edited would anyone be able to help, or at least point me in the right direction? Hughes, you've modded genesis palletes before right? well its somewhat of the same concept in a minor way, so maybe you could help? or at least point me in a direction I could take myself in?

Sorry, I'm juggling a few projects right now and don't want to sidetracked.

I have edited Genesis palettes before but it's a bit different than working with NES palettes. The Genesis uses 9-bit RGB and the NES uses a 56 color YPbPr palette. It's probably not too difficult but it would still take an hour or two to sort out the first time.

I really don't mean to sound like a jerk here but to try ROM editing you need to be somewhere between comfortable and fluent with things like hex editing and bitwise operations. Unless there's an editor for the game you're trying to modify, anything beyond string editing will be difficult. Luckily all the Mega Man games have editors so maybe one of them does what you're looking for.
