Happy 50th birthday to LEGO!

Postby Silver_Surfer1 » Mon Jan 28, '08, 5:41 pm

Just went to do a google search on something and they have their "google" word all decorated up like lego blocks, so I knew something was up, lol. Did a search on Lego and found out that they are celebrating their 50th birthday.

So, HAPPY 50th BIRTHDAY, LEGO! :cake:

Lego is a fun toy. Haven't played with them in years, but they never go out of style. They have some fun lego sets to build too, even some Star Wars stuff, if I remember correctly.

Anyone else love playing with legos at some point in your lifetime? What was your favorite thing to build with the legos?

Legos are that old? That's just awesome. :D

When I was a kid, I'd make lego houses while my brothers would make little cars, planes, forts, and other things out of 'em.

I saw that too! Didn't think much about it and just assumed that they were being creative, though. :p

I always liked the space legos when I was little. Legos are one of those things that are good for all ages, though. I saw a TV special a few months ago about a Lego convention, where people show off some of the things they've made. I remember seeing a dragon with moving wings and some very large Lego buildings and towns.

LEGO MANIAC!!!!! lol, legos are getting corrupted now. They used to be, you put this one here, and this one here, and its a cool model that you can say you built. Now its, Connect section 4 to subsection 58 while applying pressure to 35 in comparison with 255. Now add the stickers! I hate stickers, it makes the lego look cheap.
Everything has a pattern. Something set. Even random things. They aren't random at all, its complex mathematics. The trick is to find the pattern. Then you can exploit it.

People think things have a certain end. Taxes. Work. Due dates don't really exist. Trust me. When you put a band of world scholars in the same room, and set them on talking about anything, the most interesting topics come up. The existence of negative time. The probability of "random occurrence". The government's involvement in the media. And falsified due dates. They aren't real, trust me....

Legos were great fun when I was little, I spent lots of time just running wild with them. But now you see all those models and everything in toy stores, some of which look like they take a lot more time to make then a little kid would have the patience to deal with. I think that's sad, the fun was in making up your own models.

You know those big storage bins? Ya, I have 2 and a half of those filled with legos, plus some that I like to look at. We've been getting legos since I was like I don't remember but it was a looong time ago.

I once made a Super Mario out of Legos. Did anyone ever make anything PS related out of them? It sounds like an interesting thing to try. I might have to pull mine out of storage.

Sounds like a fun project, though I'm not very artistic with these legos. *points to multicolored spaceship*

I had so many Lego's when I was a kid. I use to make huge fortresses and stuff out of all the parts i had and set them up like a whole world around my room. Kinda wish I still had a few of them I would love to work with them again seeing as you can't find the old castle parts anymore and everythings all outerspace now.. You're never to old for Legos
