Hanukkah 2014 began yesterday Tuesday December 16 and goes through Wednesday December 24. Remembering all who celebrate this holiday and what it stands for.
I don't have any close acquantaince who is Jew, but happy Hanukkah to anyone from this site (and all over the world, really). What is the spirit of this holiday? I suppose there is something about light, with the candles for each of the Hanukkah days, but I never learned what it meant.
I'll give you the super-condensed version: Hanukkah celebrates the rededication of the Temple in Jerusalem. During the original celebration, olive oil (I think?) was ordered to light the Temple's menorah. Supposedly there wasn't much oil, but it burned for eight days, anyway.
Maia wishes everyone Happy Holidays, including Hanukkah:
I think I read somewhere that Hanukkah begins today, December 6, 2015 and lasts through December 14. If so, then wishing everyone out there who celebrate this special occasion a very Happy Hanukkah everyone!!!
