Was armor worth it?

I still wonder after watching all these movies..

did ARMOR really matter at all?

Everytime I see armor on someone.. it always gets penetrated by swords, spears, etc.. I mean.. seriously did it matter

Knights died from heart attacks from armor and when they fell from horse, internal bleeding but..

the reality is that it all depends on the type of armour and the type of weapon used

Even reading history, swords pierced armor, arrows, internal bleeding from mace blows..

I just ponder whether armorless was better in battles sometimes

WEll maces are designed to crush and bruisde, not pierce

generally they exist to deflect blows that would otherwise cause harm, it won't make you invincible

the same applies to body armour of today.
