Today, Feb. 2 (Saturday) was Groundhog Day and according to what I've read online Phil the Groundhog in PA did not see his shadow which is supposed to mean an early Spring:

I hope he's right. We'll just have to wait and see!!

I read that a groundhog in Georgia did see his shadow. Conflicting reports, I'd say!

Lol, I wouldn't doubt that some of them did see their shadow and some of them did not see their shadow!! It all depends on where you are and what type of weather you are having on that day and at that moment. I saw someone post a funny pic somewhere with a ground hog holding up a sign and saying something about being an animal not a meterologist (or whatever the weather forecasters are called) lol. So true.

Anyway, if you look at the calendar, Spring begins on March 21, I believe, which is about 6 weeks away, no matter how you look at it from groundhog day status. So, that's as early as it is going to be no matter what the groundhog may, or may not, say!!

And, I am counting every moment until then. I HATE cold weather!!!!!

Me I don't hate cold weather as I'm a big fan of snow BUT that is because I don't see snow very often where I'm leaving !
I know that snowy time is very dangerous for a lot of things and activities...
And the sun is great ! Even for those groundhogs ;)

All I know is SPRING better be coming soon. I have about had all of winter that I can stand.

UPDATE: Heard on the news today that Groundhog Phil predicts 6 more weeks of winter while the Groundhog in Georgia predicts an early Spring, lol.

Ritual and superstition are amusing.

But groundhogs are no more better than meteorologists who cant get it right either.

We were finally going to get to eat a ground hog back in November, but tragically it managed to crawl back to its' burrow before we could get off a second shot. Always feel very badly for the animal when it manages to get away and you just know for it has suffered a mortal wound. Poor creature ends up suffering a prolonged death and I miss out on getting to eat it.

Hasn't been much of a winter here. We had the shock of the earliest snow fall for the state in recorded history (wee hours of November 1st), and have nothing futher since. Was around this time last year I pulled a tendon or something in my back, missed three full days of work, and it snowed two of those three days. Oh such irony that the company just happened to be closed due to the snow all three of those days that I was in agony.

Tomorrow, Tuesday, Jan 02, 2016 is GroundHog Day once again. Will the groundhog see his shadow predicting six more weeks of winter or will he not see his shadow predicting an early Spring? Depends where you are located at I suppose. Supposed to be cloudy and rainy where I live so maybe an early Spring? I hope so! Sick and tired of winter already!!!

http://www.usatoday.com/story/weather/2 ... topstories

EDIT 2/2/2016: From what I read on the news this morning Groundhog Phil in Pennsylvania did not see his shadow which means an early Spring. Also General Lee Groundhog in Ga. did not see his shadow either, I think, which also means an early Spring.

Those groundhogs better be right about this weather prediction.

I can hardly wait til Spring.

Another good sign of Spring just around the corner, I looked out in the yard this morning and saw one lone jonequil (daffodil) flower already bloomed out. And, I think last week I saw a bunch of Robins running around in our back yard. That was when the temps were also really warm that day.

Officially still a few weeks until Spring arrives, but we can hope it's sooner rather than later. :flower: :happy_marle:

Tomorrow, Thursday, (Feb. 2, 2017) is Ground Hog Day!

So, will the famous ground hogs see their shadow, or not?

The weatherman is predicting cloudy weather here and says probably no shadow, which means an early Spring! But, we will find out for sure tomorrow.

Does anyone really believe in these Ground Hog weather forecasts?
