I've just read an article about it because I didn't really know about it ! Strange custom but a funny one !

Yes, it is kind of weird, but it is all done in fun, I think.

And, from the news I have read today, it seems that Phil the Groundhog in Pennsylvania, I think it is but I could be wrong about that location, did see his shadow meaning 6 more weeks of winter there. However, the Groundhog in Atlanta, I think his name is Beauregard Lee (or something like that) did not see his shadow, meaning an early Spring for the South. The southern states have had some very mild temps during winter this year so far.

Any way you look at it, by the calendar dates it is still about 6 more weeks until the official end of Winter.

I didn't know either that the ground hogs had dkifferent names ! Hope winter is going to end soon ! Yes, it's in 6 weeks : that is long enough...

Tomorrow, February 2, 2018 is GroundHog Day! It will be interesting to see if the groundhogs see their shadow, or not, tomorrow morning and what the upcoming weather predictions will be. More on this tomorrow.

Well, I read a little while ago that both Groundhogs (Phil and General Lee) saw their shadows this morning, which signals 6 more weeks of winter!

Boooooooooo!!!!!!!!!!!! I wanted an early Spring, lol.

Technically, by the calendar it is atleast 6 more weeks until Spring anyway.

It's just a little fun with the groundhogs. :lol:

Although, I found a blooming branch on one of our outside flower bushes this morning, it was in full bloom! :yikes:

And my jonquil flowers are growing, a few more weeks and they will be blooming as well.

Saturday (Feb. 2, 2019) is Groundhog Day!

Will the groundhog see his (their) shadow(s)?

Sunday (Feb. 02, 2020) is GroundHog Day!

If the GroundHog sees his shadow it will mean 6 more weeks of winter. If the Groundhog does NOT see his shadow it will mean an early spring.

Phil, the Groundhog in Pennsylvania and General Beaureguard Lee in Georgia are the two best known Groundhogs that I can recall. We shall see what they have to say tomorrow.
