Being that I've had a recent growing fascination with horror films, and that it is Black History Month, I just finished watching this film, and this may be one of the greatest horror flicks I ever saw in my life! It was produced by Darin Scott, who had previously worked on Menace II Society, and it has Spike Lee as executive producer. It is a horror anthology film consisting of four segments with the framework of a trio of gangbangers trying to get some drugs off a mortician (played by Clarence Williams III) who tells the gangbangers who presents the stories of the four segments to the three. It also has a bit of social commentary dealing with racism that is more relevant today than back when this film came out. I don't want to go into full detail so I don't accidentally spoil it. The first segment is about a civil rights activist who was senselessly murdered by a group of racist cops that returns as a zombie or something and gets revenge on them. The second is about a young boy who's school teacher senses all is not well with him and tries to get the answers. The third and my personal favorite of the segments is about a racist senator who is a former KKK member who is running for governor who's house is haunted from being on a former slave plantation from the civil war era. The fourth and final segment is about a merciless cold blooded killer who is sent to prison after killing a man he has been after for a while and has to undergo a form of psychological rehabilitation. If you are a horror fan and also a fan of movies like Do The Right Thing, Boyz n the Hood or Menace II Society, then you may really get a kick out of this one.
