Solar tsunami tonight

Postby Silver_Surfer1 » Tue Aug 3, '10, 10:01 pm

A solar tsunami may hit earth tonight:

The supposedly possible power blackouts and other possible occurrences that could result from this all sound a little annoying, for lack of a better word. :yaknow:

Sounds like we're definitely in for a view strange solar events over the next few years. I hope they don't cause too much damage.

I believe it was. I didn't notice anything resulting from the flare either, though.

I didn't notice much of anything either, but it looks like they had some dazzling sky-lightworks in some parts of the world:

The biggest danger from these flares is to satellites and the space station. Those don't have Earth's atmosphere to act as a shield.

And on a note, I have been experiencing sporadic periods of horrible Wi-Fi transmissions and reception off and on over the last week. Had a five day period where the signal couldn't stay connected long enough to be of any use. And seeing as the equipement on both my end and on my friends end checks out fine and is working normally once again it could have been related to solar flares.
