Essentially there are two types of online play:

1. Random play. This will randomly match you with other random player's. However, there is a very negative downside to this. You will not be able to communicate with the party except through a very short list of preset text messages. You will also not be able to share your FC info when in a random team.

2. Forming a team which only those who have your FC may join. Or joining a team made by some you have the FC of. In a team such as this you will be able to communicate with all other team members and share your FC info with the rest of the team.

I'm noticing that when your in a team, that you can send your FC info through the menu options to another player in the team. And if you receive another players info in this manner it updates their info in your FC Roster with their nickname the way they spell it and also adds out to the side the name of their character you were in a team with at the time of them sending the info.

Alas, even when I finally do get the game, I won't be able to play online. Apparently the DS Lite uses a different kind of wireless protocol than my router. I'll be stuck with offline unless I want to reconfigure every wireless device in the hose, which is too much trouble.

There are a couple of easy fixes that problem Thoul.

1. Add a Wireless Access Point (WAP) that is compatible to your network.
2. Buy and connect a Nintendo W-Fi adapter to one of your PC's.

Currently working on a guide to the online play aspects of this game. Will post it once I get it better organized.

I might look into a WAP, I hadn't considered that. I've never even seen the Nintendo adapter for sale anywhere. I wouldn't want to run my PC just to play my DS anyway.

You'd really be better off with a WAP. The Nintendo Wi-Fi adapter is really overpriced in my opinion. Just make sure to do some reaserch on known DS compatible WAPs as I've read there's a couple of chipset based models of WAP's on the market that don't fully comply with the 802.11b standards and therefore don't work with the DS.
