25 movies have been selected this year to join the Library of Congress's National Film Registry.

Some of the movies picked include,

"The Empire Strikes Back"

"Saturday Night Fever"

I wonder what's involved in "preserving" a film in this registry. I mean, it started in 1989 and it took them 20 years to realize that a film like Empire was culturally significant. Either they intentionally space these selections out or there is a lot of work in whatever they do to preserve the films.

Good choices, although, I find it hard to believe that some of these films have not been added before now.

Any opinions on the films chosen this year??
