Bird Drawing - Dark Eyed Junco

Postby Wolf Bird » Thu May 5, '11, 10:40 pm

Haven't done one of these in a while. Been standing more time actually birdwatching with good weather. ;) Anyway, this is a Dark Eyed Junco. I actually did it as a request for a user on another forum I post on. But here it is for you to look at too! :) Done mostly with graphite pencils, a little colored pencil and a bit of charcoal.

Terrific drawing, CW! Very good overall, and The wing span and the feet are exceptionally good. :)

Really beautiful, CW! You are a very talented artist, your bird drawings are always excellent. As SS1 already pointed out, the wings and the feet are terrific.

Spectacular work, CW! I think this is the best one yet. There is a very dynamic feeling that pose. It combines excellently with the details you put into the feet and feathers.

Wow, this one is pretty fantabulous, CW--arguably your best bird yet. The colors look natural and "organic" and the detail on the feathers is very realistic.

This is fantastic work. I agree that the feet are particularly well-done, and I also think the eyes are beautifully done, and very naturalistic. There's a slight bifurcation in the reflection there that makes it look incredibly life-like.

Unfortunately I don't think I've ever seen a bird of this type. We seem to have pretty limited avian life down here. I spent a while trying to bird watch, with limited success, but it was really interesting.

Thanks everyone! :) Unfortunately, my camera broke and I don't have a scanner, so it may be a while before I can post anymore of these. And I don't have the money to spend on either of these items right now.
