Asteroid passes Earth

Postby Silver_Surfer1 » Sun Apr 1, '12, 3:12 am

A fairly big Asteroid will pass by Earth early Sunday morning (April 1), however, it is not expected to pose a problem of any kind:

Interesting that it will supposedly be closer to Earth than the moon is to Earth. Probably no chance of seeing it in our area though, if that were even possible, as we have had cloudy, rainy, and stormy weather all afternoon here.

This Asteroid is supposed to be the size of an airplane !!! Wow!!

If it's only the size of a passenger jet, you probably wouldn't have been able to see it without a telescope anyway. When a jet flies overhead at high altitude, they look like tiny specs from the ground. An asteroid out in space would be terribly difficult to see unaided.

Ah ! If this asteroid was going to crash on the surface, maybe a beginning of "great Collapse" ? ;)
