Some places, including, Amazon and Barnes & Noble are slashing prices on their e books, etc.:

Bah, e-books are accessible through libraries. Why spend money when you can just take advantage of your tax dollars?

B&N keeps sending me emails about their Nook and the price drops. I've always preferred the feel of real books, as I spend my entire work day and beyond looking at computer screens, but I've been thinking about switching to eBooks to save paper.

I'm not going to give ebooks serious consideration until they're easily available and accessible for multipurpose devices. For instance, if my Nintendo DS could serve as an ebook reader, that would be great. I see no need to spend $150+ on a device that does nothing but ebooks yet, though.
