Dragon Knights

Lyle in Phantasy Star III is said to be a Dragon Knight. Presumably this is a reference to his ability to change into a dragon. Do you think the Dragon Knight status entails anything beyond that? Is it a genetic trait, or acquired through training? If genetic, does that mean Lyle's other relatives that we see could have the ability, like Maia, Ayn, Thea, and Sean? What impact would a dragon transformation have had on Sean's quest?

There's not much about this in the game, so speculation is the order of the day here. Let your imaginations run wild.

Naw, I think it was a super ability like, Megid, or Grantz. But yeah, that would be so fun, "I don't need wren! Imma DRAGON! WHOOO!!" By the way, has anyone ever noticed when you transform back from a vehicle, it says, "Wren transformed back into its original form."?

It would have been cool if Sean could turn into a dragon in battle. Burn all the enemies with dragon fire!

If Maia's father is related to Lyle, he could have turned into a dragon during the fight at the end of Rhys' part. Fighting a dragon boss would have been cool, too.

I guess it would. I never noticed. I wonder which game came out first? It could have been something else that Phantasy Star did first, if they had included that.

Phantasy Star was before BoF, yeah. But if you're talkin' about PSIII, then I wouldn't know which came first. D:

Yeah, I meant PS3. BoF was a SNES game so of course PS1 was first. It's too bad PS1 didn't let Myau fight in his transformed state. That would have been even better than a dragon!

I can imagine something like this coming up...

Sari: Since your dad could turn into a dragon, why can't you, Thea?
Thea: ...I can grow a tail and... tiny wings, too.
Ayn: Just when I thought our relationship couldn't get more awkward...

Poor Sean would probably only be able to grow a tail.
