It's been more than ten years since PSIV came out. It was billed as the last adventure in the Phantasy Star series on the US box. But, Phantasy Star has remained fairly popular ever since. Do you think Sega will ever make another game in the classic series? Not a new PSOnline or PSUniverse - but something that is a clear continuation of the story and style in the Genesis games.
For my part, I doubt it... but you never know, one day they might surprise us and decide to bring the series back with a fifth installment.
No... I think they'll stick with the online games from now on. They had a chance to bring back the series with the Generation remakes, but they let it slip through their fingers.
Yeah, I'm disappointed on how they handled the remakes. I'm glad that they did make at least two, but I wish the ball hadn't been dropped so badly on the US releases. It looks like the remake of PSIV is dead in the water, too, which is sad.
Well, I voted in the poll, although I'm not too familiar with this game as I previously stated and from the posts I've read here so far, it seems like it has been quite awhile since they made one of the games, but you never know what will happen tomorrow. They could surprise everyone and decide to do a new one. I learned a long time ago to try and never say "never"!
Yeah, it's been a while. The last one came out in 1993. They've re-released several of the games since then and started a new series with the name, but 1993 was the last new game in this series.
I agree, though - you never know. It may not be likely, but there's always hope. The way they keep releasing the old games again, they have to realize that there's a fan base out there waiting for a new one.
My thoughts on this... They most likely won't. PSIV wrapped up everything nicely, and there's little room for continuation.
However, PSIII leaves plenty of room for that, but I wouldn't want to see anything based off that done, since most games that are coming out nowadays aren't that great.
I don't know, I always thought PSIV left an opening at the end there. There was a line in the ending, as the Profound Darkness was dying out, about some kind of time disturbance. They could use that for a continuation.
Oh, I know what part you're talking about, methinks.
I can see where that may possibly lead to something else, but my guess is that it's supposed to show how unstable the dimentional rip was after the Profound Darkness was destroyed, and how it was collasping and whatnot. Just my thoughts.
Yeah, that's the one. It may have just been a way to show the instability, but I've always thought they could use it to justify a sequel. "Oh no, the Darkness sent a part of itself out into the past/future/etc!" It might be kind of cliche, but they could make it interesting.
