they start at $229 and go up to $399, depending on how big you want the harddrive. what i did was wait until right before school starts, then check ebay/craigslist/facebook for discounted ones from students. apple always has an offer for a free ipod touch with a new computer for back to school. students with iphones, ipods, devices, etc. who don't need theirs always try to sell them for less than retail.
