Chaz, descendent of Rolf? (and Alis by extension?)

this is something I've thought about several times over the years. Do you think Chaz is a descendent of Rolf?
his look and style certainly does seem reminiscent of a blonde Rolf.

if yes, the question begs then, but how? I guess it would depend upon whether one thinks that Rolf and Company made it back from Noah alive. may be rough to come back alive, after all the aeroprism and Elsydeon which one might assume is the Neisword, did make it back safely. so given that, did Rolf make it back safely so he could in theory spread his seed for 1000 years down the road?

If no, then why else would Chaz be the only one that Rune/Lutz, and even Le Roof, chose as the champion of algol?
Surely there are better selections out there of random people than a 16-year-old teenager punk thief. we know that Rolf was chosen at least in part because he is a descendent of Alis, but was Chaz?

Do I think Chaz is descended from Rolf? Yes. (And make all the jokes about palette swapping you want, the two have similar overworld and battle sprites. Though Chaz at least has the common sense to not use a dagger as a two-handed weapon, unlike Rolf.)

As to the how? The Japanese version out and out says Rolf and the others survived that whole mess that happened with the Earthmen at the end of PSII. So that's got that going for it. (Problem is, just who did Rolf wind up with after PSII...?)

Hey, you all are assuming that Rolf would have impregnated someone post-PSII. He could have, uh, dated casually beforehand and never knew he had a child, thus adding to the drama and angst and surprise!chosen one revelation about Chaz.

Anyhoo, it's not a bad theory. I don't necessarily think it was the intention of the creators, but I won't argue too vehemently against it, either. And I also vote for the data backup girl for Chaz's other ancestor.

Fan-theories about Rolf being the ascendent of Chaz are pretty cool, but...I don't really believe them.

Personally, I don't think it would be a good thing if Chaz was a Rolf's descendant because it would only add another boring and forced aspect to the series storyline. The more things like that you add, the less individuality you leave to the characters.

If the characters become more and more predestined to be the heroes, their personalities become less and less relevant. The whole coming-of-the-age goes down the drain, and his temporary rejection of his role as a puppet becomes irrelevant since he was born to be the hero.

For very young players, all the interdepencies seem to be fantastic because they often prefer familiar elements regardless of their impact in the story concept. However, 20+ years after the game release, looking back, it would be better with less forced interdependencies.

Have no idea, Star Wars is definitely something that doesn't interest me.

All this theory about a filiation from Alisa through Rolf to Chaz seems very interesting.. but I don't think it's very good as, like Tilinelson tells us, it's a too forced aspect ! Another one after Alisa to Eusis ? That is too much...

But the idea of a relation between Eusis/Rolf and the data girl is a great one ! Even if Chaz is not one of their great great grand child !
