Dead Zones

On first thought it may sound like a video game or a TV program but on reading about what is happening in some of our Oceans and Rivers is really quite scary for us and even more so for the tropical life that are trying to live there. Check this out:

The drawing showing how Dead Zones form was really quite interesting and a bit shocking too.

These are quite a serious problem for both the marine organisms and also any activities that go on in these areas. Can't exactly fish in these waters. It's also pretty bad for long-term marine health, as sea jellies thrive in low-oxygen water and quickly prevent other life from coming back to these areas.

The big thing is that we have to reduce our use of fertilizer rich in nitrogen and phosphorus, and use it more efficiently, so less drains into the Gulf.
