I haven't heard about that. What's happening there?

When USSR existed Estonia was part of it. During the World War II Estonia was captured by Germany and many Estonian people were executed. USSR army expulsioned * and Estonias built monument to the Soldier-Liberator for the sake of people who made Estonia free again. And now Estonian goverment announced that Russian soldiers annexed Estonia and destroyed the monument. There were objections against it and even one person was killed by police but monument was destroyed. The day before yesterday Estonian goverment started to dig graves of Russian soldiers who fell during fight against * Germany. Yesterday Estonian geverment said that they will recover monument and put it to the soldier's graveyard. But I don't think that people will be able to forgive them...

That's terrible. I haven't heard anything about it in the news here. It's very sad to think that, even in this day, governments will do such things. :(

Yeah. Moreover they didn't allowed Russian ambassadors to visit soldier's graves :( I afraid to think what will happen in Estonia on 9th of May if situation won't change...

How awful, it's terrible that they're doing that. Why is May 9th special, in relation to this? I'm not a very good student of history, I'm afraid.

May 9th is the Day of Victory over * Germany in Russia. I thought that this is international holiday =)

I don't think it is a holiday here in the USA... at least, I don't remember hearing of it. We do have a holiday for victory over * Germany, but I think it is in another month. :)

9th May, 1945, V-day. I think, I don't know much about history as far as WWII goes.

Sorry, I made a mistake ^_^' 9th May is the day of Victory in Great Patriotic War in Russia and day of defeating * army. The WWII ended in September as far as I remember.

No problem. :) Thanks for clearing that up.

Anyway, hopefully nothing bad will happen that day. I imagine there will be some kind of protest. I hope it doesn't turn violent. :(
