Cryosleep - will Rune use it?

Postby Thoul » Wed Jan 9, '08, 11:26 pm

Thanks to Phantasy Star II, we know Lutz lived a long time using a cryogenic sleeping chamber. So did Alis in PS Gaiden. While the technology might have kept Lutz around for a thousand years, would the sleeping chamber last long enough for Rune to use it too? If it does, do you think he would also take the long, cold nap to be around for the next millennium?

It is possible, but only if Rune knew he would be the best and the last hope to defeat Dark Force in the future or if some kind of catastrophic scene would happen to Algol. Otherwise he would do just like the other three before him: watch over algol waked up

(Rune 1000 years into the future)

Follower: Sir, it has been one thousand years and you are needed again... wait what is the matter sir.
Rune: *hopping around after stepping out of the chamber*
Follower: Oh... bathrooms that way.. *points down the hall*

everyone knows this is the most possible scenario that would happen..

or this....

Before..
Rune: Alright everyone, I'll see you...well obviously not you but...I'll be back in 1000 years, just make sure its closed nice and tight.
Follower: Ok. *shuts the lid down*

After..
Follower: * lid* Sir, it has been one thousand years and you are needed again... wait what is the matter sir.
Rune: .....
Follower: Sir, Hello? *shakes him*
Rune: *falls limp to the ground*.....
Follower2: *walks in* Looks like someone didn't close it all the way....
Follower:......
Follower2:......
Follower:.....Well that sucks.....
.....
Follower2:...Yeah...so what now?
Follower:......*thinks a moment*
Both: WE'RE DOOMED!!!!!!!!!! *runs around screaming*

I can't decide on a better ending.
Everything has a pattern. Something set. Even random things. They aren't random at all, its complex mathematics. The trick is to find the pattern. Then you can exploit it.

People think things have a certain end. Taxes. Work. Due dates don't really exist. Trust me. When you put a band of world scholars in the same room, and set them on talking about anything, the most interesting topics come up. The existence of negative time. The probability of "random occurrence". The government's involvement in the media. And falsified due dates. They aren't real, trust me....

I don't see Rune using cryosleep, really. But it is an interesting thought.

Kaloes and Sparky: Very funny! I almost feel sorry for Rune...

Sure, I think he'd make like Lutz and wake up every decade or so to see what's happening in Algo. After all the last person he seemed to care about was Alys, and she's gone. Poor guy.

I'd like to think he came to care about Chaz and the others as well. Although, Rune did say he wouldn't be seeing Chaz again. Waking up every decade sounds good though; I can see Rune doing that.
