Valve Announces the Steam Box

As a PC gamer and a console gamer, I really don't see who this device is supposed to target. I have no problem playing PC games on my PC, and I'd image that most PC gamers feel this way. People that do not play PC games because they can't play them on their TV are the only people that would be interested in this, and I have to wonder if it is even worth Valve's effort to target these people.

I'm not a PC gamer, but my boyfriend is. He seems pretty excited about this.
Next Pokemon game(s): Pearl
Last finished Pokémon game: Shield
Other games: Skyrim Special Edition (Switch), Spyro Reignited Trilogy (Switch & PS4), Okami (Switch & PS4)
Other gaming goals: completing a Living Pokedex (minus some event Pokes) and going through at least 1 game per generation

I already have a Steam Machine. I'm typing this post on it right now from the futureeeeeeeee on my computer.

(That was the joke.)
Read my social stuff!
The ramblings of an oldish geezer on Facebook.
@SnorbESnorb on Twitter. The "E" stands for "Everything."

Play my games!
The ArrrPG - A game I made about being a pirate. This be a first draft, matey! Though it plays just fine, clap yer eyes on th' eventual Revised an' Expanded Edition and you'll be pleased, by thunder!

Nakama: A Card Game of Magical Girls - A completely un-playtested card game about being a magical girl.

Well, excuse me while I defy all laws of logic and common sense and do it anyway.

I think it would be fun to play with, which is why I entered for a chance to be one of the lucky 300 to try out the beta. Though chances of me getting picked are probably none. And I doubt I'll get one otherwise.

Valve also announced the Steam PC game controller.

Earth to Valve. If you plug a 360 controller into your PC, it works. I swear to god. Kind of a weird controller, but luckily you can still use a keyboard and mouse with it. There are certain PC games that I can't image using a controller for, like MMOs. It would be a nightmare trying to play them with a controller.

Well you know, Valve is know for trying new things, so we will see how this turns out. I won't be taking much interest in it.
