I read a story about a Florida couple who had their pet dog (a Lab) cloned when the dog died. It cost them about $155,000.00, I believe the story said.

Question: Would you have your pet cloned?

I did hear about a woman who spent an enormous amount of money to have her dog cloned.

I do think it's sad. Regardless of an exact genetic blueprint, you'll never be able to have the fame Fido.

I agree, it may be a clone but it's always going to be slightly different. Not to mention the defects that could arise due to cloning[you know there are some!]. Plus how would you really get closure from losing a pet? That's part of growing up and becoming that much stronger.

I don't see why one would have their pet cloned. The clone may have the same genes, but that doesn't make him the same animal, know what I mean? They may as well just get a new, naturally born animal.

Speaking of the like, I remember hearing years ago about a cat being cloned, and about how that clone looked nothing like the original.

I can see the attraction of the concept. The idea of being able to have a dear pet, one that's like part of the family, returned could be very tempting. It would have the exact same personality, but it could be very close in a lot of ways.

But even so... I wouldn't do it.

I don't agree with cloning because at the end of the day it's not the original just a replica. It's the entire reason existance gives you one life.
