Cheap Books

I love reading, but I can't afford to buy every book I want to read with many books being in the near $30 or over price range, etc. So, I am always looking for a good deal in buying books, and was wondering if anyone has any ideas or tips they would like to share with us all here in finding good books, new or used, at a good bargain price wise, etc.

I already visit our local library and get a lot of books there, but they are only on loan for awhile and you have to take them back. Some books I like so well that I really would like to have my own copy of to read whenever I want.

Sometimes I also find good used books at a Flea Market or Yard Sale.

Anyone have any other good tips for finding new/used books to read?

If it's an older book, maybe you can find it for a reduced price at a store. Some stores will occasionally mark down books they couldn't sell. General stores, dollar stores, places like that will occasionally have some as well.

And of course, you could always try online book sellers, like Amazon or even eBay.

Definitely look in your area for used bookstores. Thrift stores, Goodwill, etc. also usually carry books, and if you're not picky about condition, these are great options.

Also check out Craigslist and join Freecycle.

Here in my country books are more expensive than that. Anyway, a good alternative are the paperback pocket books. If they are classics, they are too cheap (like 2, 3 USD). Even if they aren't, they are usually cheap. For example, I buy books from Amazon and even considering my country's currency being weaker than the dollar and the mail costs, it ends being cheaper than buying books here.

Second-hand book stores used to be a good alternative here, but now the prices are too high. They sometimes charge more for an used book than the price you'd pay for a new one.

There are some stores that sell ONLY used books. You can especially find these, it seems, on college campuses (and not just used textbooks). So if you have a college near you, check that out, maybe.
