Today, January 28th, is the 25th anniversary of the explosion of the space shuttle Challenger where all the astronauts on board were killed including school teacher Christa McAuliffe:

Anyone remember this happening 25 years ago?

It was a very sad time for the USA, for the world, and for space exploration! :(

I was watching it on TV at home. This happened when I was very young, so it was rather shocking. Prior to this event, I can't recall ever thinking that there was any danger in something like space flight. It really changed my perceptions in a lot of ways. I also remember hearing that one of my school's teachers had been in the running for the program at some point.

Hard to believe that it has been ten years since I first made this post and even harder to believe that it has now been 35 years since the space shuttle Challenger exploded in space killing all those aboard the shuttle! A very sad day in history but a day never to be forgotten.
