Singer Garth Brooks is coming out of retirement:

That's good to hear, but was he ever actually in retirement? He's performed several times since he began his self imposed retirement (retiring to help raise his daughters or whatever the reason). I thought retirement meant doing nothing, but maybe I'm wrong on that.

He began his retirement in 2000 and now it's 2009, almost 2010, so I guess it only takes about ten years to raise daughters. :starry-eyed: I wish!

Anyway, I'm glad to see him back. I'm a fan of his music! I love almost all his songs, and can't wait to see what new ones he will have now. One thing is for certain, he will probably be dominating the music charts just like before.

He certainly did seem active in his industry for a retired person. Of course, that's probably because every time he did anything, the news picked up on it because he was supposedly retired.

I guess if you really love what you do, you can't stay away from it for too long.

I would agree at the velocity the tickets sold out...of course being signed on to play at Vegas makes me wonder if it's a highlight of a storied career or a death sentence [see Celine Dion].

Darkil, wasn't Celine in Vegas for about 5 years at one place (casino???)? I remember when she first began that first gig and to me she looked relieved to have it over finally.

Garth's first show in Las Vegas seems to have gone very well:

I was recently wondering what became of him. His "Standing Outside the Fire" is my favorite all time song and...is really the only song of his I'm familiar with.
