BRAT

Postby Silver_Surfer1 » Wed Jan 7, '09, 8:08 pm

Since I've been feeling a little under the weather lately, I did a search for some foods that might be good for a sensitive stomach, etc. I came up with this:

BRAT

BRAT is short for "Bananas, Rice, Applesauce, Toast".

Maybe not all together, just one by themselves, or whatever you can stand at the moment. Anyway, I've tried it, and it seems to work fairly well. Atleast, I can keep it down - for now.

What type of foods do you eat, or want to eat, when you are feeling sick or have an uneasy stomach? Have you tried any of the "BRAT", and did it work for you?

Usually, I don't want very much for the first couple of days, but after awhile I felt I needed to eat something to keep my strength up, and possibly settle my stomach.

Oh yeah, coke seems to help a little too, even though I usually don't drink many soft drinks.

When I'm sick I usually drink lemonade and water. When it comes to food I just eat what ever I feel like at the time. Usually something healthy of course.

I usually just drink water when sick as well. For eating, I typically don't change my habits... but I might try this next time.

I actually just learned about this today. Studies show that it doesn't work any better than the regular diet. In fact, it lacks on protein which may be detrimental to your health. Doctors still prescribe it, despite what studies have said.
