Man dies after 43 pancakes

Another eating contest that went bad:

These contests used to be sort of fun, but it seems now they are very deadly.

Well normally I"d argue the validity of this since it's coming from Fox news but since it invovles someone's life I won't. I know eating contests are fun but there's a real fine line, I see it's not so much as he suffered a heart attack but the fact he choked to death. Pancakes are thick enough generally but these were banana and cream filled so it stands to reason that unfortunately not enough was chewed to move down his throat. My thoughts go out to his family.

I've read quite a few stories of people being hospitalised from eating contests. However this is the first death I have read. But what do they expect normally you wouldn't just rapidly shove down gallons of pancakes, you'll end up being sick or worse in this case. So no wonder this guy lost his life. :blank:

The sad thing is, no one will learn from this and they'll have the event again next year. People dying from these contests is not unheard of (remember the woman who died in a drinking contest for a Wii?), but people keep on doing it.
