That is pretty funny. I would have to say it's the driver's fault for not only leaving the car in front of a hydrant, but also for leaving it there long enough for all of this to happen.

It might be funny to some but probably not to the person who owns the car. Granted, they should not have parked in front of a fire hydrant but there should be other ways to handle it and teach the owners a lesson besides breaking windows and causing more damage, etc. It was a eye catching moment in the movie "Backdraft" that's for sure...William Baldwin is terrific there.

Other ways to do it? Like what? If there's a building on fire, they don't have time to find an alternative. I say if they don't want their car ruined, they shouldn't have blocked a hydrant.

Of course they should not have blocked a fire hydrant. That goes without saying. People don't always do what they are supposed to do though. And, two wrongs do not make a right. The firemen might have been able to run the hose around or over the outside of the car thus not having to break windows. Or perhaps there was another alternative. I am sure they face this type of situation often and know other possible solutions without having to think on it for very long when there is a fire that needs their immediate attention. The owners of the car deserved a ticket or possible jail time for committing this act. It was an exciting stunt in the movie though.
