32nd anniversary of Jonestown massacre

Postby Flames of Yagami » Sat Nov 20, '10, 1:07 am

Yesterday was the 32nd anniversary of the infamous Jonestown massacre, the largest single loss of American civilian life in a non natural disaster until the events of 9/11. Reading about it got me kind of depressed so I won't bother talking about it here, so here's the Wikipedia article on Jonestown:

Also, there was a memorial held for the victims yesterday:

That was a horrible time and act in history. Hopefully, something like that will never happen again.

There was a documentary, I want to say on MSNBC, that detailed the history of Jonestown including footage from the infamous day. It was very interesting to watch, it's amazing how easily people can get roped into a cult like this.

Was it called Jonestown Paradise Lost? I don't remember if that's the exact name but I think that's what you're referring to. I remember watching it a about month or two ago and it was pretty interesting, and slightly depressing too, I guess.

You know, I think Kool-Aid is always sort of gonna be remembered in this. I can't drink a glass of the stuff today without thinking about it. :yaknow:

I'm not sure, but I think it was actually Flavor-Aid that was used instead of Kool-Aid (or maybe it was both of them, again I don't know for sure).
