Birds are always fascinating creatures. It is a wonder just to observe them when you see them in your own back yard. Now there are some studies that show just how fascinating some of these birds are and what they can do. Here is a story on one small bird's migratory path and how they get to where they are going.

And those little guys don't go very far compared to others! The Arctic Tern is the winner for sheer distance.

Having been a birdwatcher since middle school and now a citizen-scientist wildlife spotter, migration has fascinated me for a while. And it's crucial to know what's around when if you want to catch the birds that pass through for only a short time. I got very lucky a few years ago when I caught a glimpse of long-tailed ducks in Boston Harbor.
