Today, April 11, is also " Barbershop Quartet Day "!
For those of you who may not know what a "Barbershop Quartet" is. It is usually a group of guys (maybe 4) who get together and sing songs, and harmonize. It was very popular in the 50's and 60's, I think. It could be said it was the forerunner of group music today, I think.
Sometimes the group members wear striped suits in the color of red and white, resembling a "barbershop pole" that used to be found outside in front of barbershops, I think. They usually wore hats too, I think.
Once again, as with everything else, it is amazing to see how music has evolved over the years!
Happy Barbershop Quartet Day!
