Ah, ok.

I wonder what they put it on their website for...

It could be that the sprite/palette combo exists. I don't know much at all about how graphics are stored/called in this game. There's definitely no statistics for it though.

And also, graphics can be weird in the game.

Zio has a full set of walking sprites/direction facings, but they're unused.

Its possible they made the sprites in anticipation of having him actually walk around and stuff, but it never really came up, so there was no reason to use them.
I feel the way you would

That's likely the case. And that isn't the only case of unused sprites, the Priest in the Gumbious Temple who watches the Eclipse Torch has a full set of sprites but never walks around, but he will turn to face the player.

And back to the enemy... I'm pretty sure it doesn't exist, I've never heard of it, but I'm not sure why it was on that website.

But come to think of it, why was there no recolour of the Zoran Bolt? It would've been cool.

Was he a planned playable character at one point? :)

LadyAbaxa told me that the game loads his sprite set into VRAM the one time it needs his sprites, and there's no reason he couldn't walk around as it is a complete walk cycle, and the other sprites weren't needed and there was no reason to delete them.

So, nothing completely interesting.

Isn't it funny that his sprite(s) are only used once. Never occurred to me before!

It is pretty strange. But then again, Lashiec's and Dark Force 1-2's sprites are only used once also.
