Amy fanservice.

Postby Xander » Sat Feb 12, '11, 10:15 am

Because I wanted to try some new methods out before going ahead with more serious projects. So something a little more simple to draw.

Anyway. Took 3 days to colour. Mainly because I'm lazy and I had more new methods than I care to count to try out as well. ^^

As for buying my new tablet; with this being the second piece of artwork coloured on it, i think the tab's paid for itself now.
And lastly, anything you may have missed can be found here.

Ah, very good point. Still a good drawing of her.

Usually people call fanservice when the character is designed/drawn to look gorgeous.

Anyway it is a good picture, though her head seems to be a bit large for her body.
A person only sees and hears what he wants to see and hear and disregards the rest.

True. I think I may have made it a bit too tall. Probably because of the scale of the drawing. I'm more used to working on smaller stuff now.

Fixed that for you. This is not fanservice, this is simple fan art.

Nice work Xan. The face is too long, but the quality is there.

Beautiful Amy drawing, Xander! :)

I really like the highlights/detail in her hair. Also, I think her face looks fine for the most part and not too long at all. One of her eyes (left eye) looks a little bigger than the other eye, just the blue part of the eye, that is, but it still looks fine. Her arms and hand are very well drawn. I really love the yellow outfit.

I do have to agree, the face is a tad too long. Looking at it now, the main problem is that the mouth and nose are too far apart. Fix that and the space between the chin and mouth slightly as well and it would be ok.
But this was purely a measurement slip-up on my part. Good job it was just a practice piece of sorts, otherwise I would have been more diligent with the details.

You did a really impressive job with the coloring on the hair and cape here, Xander. I didn't notice any issues with the face myself - I just chalked the sizes and positioning of various elements there up to perspective.

I think the hand could use a little more work in the coloring. The shading you have is good, it's just that the hand looks flat. A little definition across the top of the palm would improve that, I think.
