Computer Virus on April 1

Postby Silver_Surfer1 » Tue Mar 31, '09, 6:38 pm

Has anyone heard anything about a computer virus that may strike on April 1? That's tomorrow, I think.

Is this a real virus, or just a April Fool's Day joke of some kind??????? :?

I read a little about it somewhere. Supposedly, it's some kind of worm that has infected millions of computers already and will suddenly take them over on the mentioned date. Personally, I don't put much stock in the rumors. If the virus has been that well known, all the good anti-virus programs will have been checking for it for a while. I think this is mainly a case of the news media looking for another "oh no, computers are terrible" bandwagon to jump on, like the Y2K stuff.

I doubt there is any validity to this. It's just getting blown out of proportion. The worms and viruses that usually hit our network are the "under the radar" ones that we are not prepared for.
