9 brands that disappeared in 2009

Postby hugues » Sat Dec 19, '09, 2:08 pm

It's the end of the year so expect to see all kinds of arbitrary lists like this -
money.cnn.com/galleries/2009/news/0912/ ... index.html

I forgot that Encarta was retired this year. I still remember how novel it was when it was new. I'm surprised it lasted as long as it did against Wikipedia.

Any of these brands you'll miss?

I didn't know that most of those were being retired. Of course, I hadn't heard of many of them in years either, so I suppose that's not much of a surprise. I think it's sort of cheating to have Circuit City on the list though, since that's one been revived.

Some of those I have heard of leaving and some I hadn't. I think I will miss Pontiac the most. They had a long run. Sorry to see them go.

That's too bad about the Encarta. I loved that program.

It's not in the list, but the Volkswagen Beetle, as we know it, will cease: content.usatoday.com/communities/driveo ... el-to-us/1

I'm a little dubious about some of the car companies since the Chevy Camaro was "retired" and made a come back. I heard GMC was going "out of business" yet I keep seeing commercials for new vehicles. Time will tell I suppose...
