The nominations for the 2013 Academy Awards (Oscars) have been announced:

It seems "Lincoln" may have this years awards ceremonies tied up!! I still need to see that film, especially after the great review one of our Phantasy Star members gave it here on The Fringes board in another thread.

Too bad that "The Dark Knight Rises" was shut out of the awards this year. It would have been nice if Christian Bale had received something for his portrayal of Batman in all these three films. Looks like "The Avengers" did not do so well either. Funny isn't it, how the top grossing films of the year did not seem to do so well in the Oscar nominations????

Sounds about typical. The Oscars never go in big for the movies that are based in popular culture, like comic book or fantasy novel originated films. The first two Lord of the Rings films were snubbed as well, as I recall.

The Oscars were given out last night at the Academy Awards show. Big winner was "Argo" for Best Film, actor Daniel Day-Lewis for Best Actor, actress Jennifer Lawrence for Best Actress. Find out more winners and nominees at the link below:

Did anyone get to watch the show on television live?? I didn't get to watch it but I read something about it going to be 4 hours long....wow!! If anyone saw it, what did you think about the show and what do you think about the winners??

I haven't seen the ceremony myself but I've read some of the shortcuts about the 4 hours of the ceremony :) So I'll not be able to give an hint on this matter but the summary were very interesting :) Even if the ceremony seems to have been a bit long (as always) and a bit boring sometimes.
