I'm curious... since this is going to be playable on Dreamcast, what will be involved in getting that to happen? I mean, will we just burn the game onto a CD and pop that into the DC and start playing, or what?

From PC:

Using Nero or discjuggular you will burn the cd at low settings.
I will be releasing "images", 1 for NTSC (USA) and 1 for Pal (UK/Europe).
These will be set up so that the game automatically burns at the right settings etc...

From DC:

The next step is to test it out on your Dreamcast.
Now all you need to do is pop your CD-R into the DC and it will run the bootup prog.
This will launch you into the game.
You will use your VMU to save and it will play pretty much perfectly.

This is quite common in the dreamcast community as emulators, homebrews (like this one) use this method all the time. Fenix will be used for coding as it works for both DC and PC.
Certain Cd's wont work with the DC but these are generally "SONY" brands etc...

The reason you can use CD-R's is because the protection system on a Dreamcast works very differently than say playstation.
The Dreamcast can play CD-Rs no problem but a playstation is sensitive to CD-Rs and therefore would need to be "chipped" or changed so that CD-Rs work.

There is no problem with downloading the image on your pc, burning it and then putting your new burned disc into your dreamcast and playing it.

Your not in a position to answer questions about my post, I am fine with you working on the game with me but you have to respect this is my topic and unless you actually can answer the questions brought forward... which I know you wont be able to, its just going to cause confusion man.
We have only briefly talked about the project so far, so your not qualified to answer questions about the project.
Sorry if that has come across as mean but I have to make it as clear as crystal.

Ah, I see. It sounds like it will be very easy to get this running on the DC then. I look forward to playing a new game on my Dreamcast again! :D

I'm sorry if I came across as hostile. What I meant was that I would deliver the questions to you through MSN. I'm not trying to invade your post, I'm just eager to get things done.

Hey Everyone.

I have decided to cancel the project and start creating my own RPG title instead.
I feel that my work has been altered to suit the overall phantasy star fans and doesn't reflect my own.
Therefore I will be creating my RPG Shadows Of Aleah, which will have little connection to PS or it's sprites but will definately be influenced by the game.

My work isnt copyrighted but Id appreciate no one using any of my character ideas unless they are from previous PS, (Lutz design is still mine but her name isnt) hope that can be respected.

Good Luck Fans of PS and hopefully someone with more drive can give you the PS5 you truely deserve.

I'm sorry to hear that you've canceled the project, but at the same time I can understand it. Keeping true to your own creative vision is a difficult thing to do when working in the confines of a pre-existing universe. I hope you'll still keep us updated on the progress of Shadows Of Aleah; I'd like to see how it all turns out.

Bummer... more like a damned shame. My dreams have just been shot down. I had a chance to work on a Phantasy Star game and now I'll never get to see it through. Here I thought I was finaly going to get the chance to honor the games I love more than any other, only to find that it was all for naught. To say that I feel cheated would be putting it superfluously lighty. It's going to take a long time for me to get over this one. Growing up as an autistic kid with little/no freinds, I often turned to Phantasy Star IV for pleasure and to observe what freindship looked like. This may seem overly obsessive, but I really can't change that. This was my chance to give my spin on the already increadible stories. I guess it was all for nothing. All the sprites I had been modifying over the weeks, all the time I spent perfecting my pixel art technique for making cutscenes, all of it was for nothing.
Mad?
No, I'm not mad. I wouldn't call it sadness either. I'd catagorize it somewhere between dismay and intense fury.

Hey, Heik... I can understand your feelings on this, really. It's a shame that HTD quit on the project, yes, but if one doesn't enjoy their work, then they simply can't be forced to do it.

It's just a suggestion, but perhaps you could try doing a project of your own? You have good ideas, and you're creative artistically. I say put your talents to good use, and if you want to honor Phantasy Star, then there's nothing holding you back.

It's a nice thought, but I wouldn't know where to start. I can't program or code. All I can do is artwork. I appriciate the thought though. This is just one of those things that I'll never get to see through.
