Chapter Ten

Nolt, the control center of the Neo Parm.

The group slowly walked through the front gate of the town, the smell of blood was in the air. "This is awful." Alys said, slowly covering her mouth with her hands. Countless bodies laid in the streets. Their bodies ravaged as if some sort of beast rampaged the town. "What could have done this?" Ray asked, glancing slowly towards Nara who was checking a nearby woman.

"She's not breathing." Nara said silently. She grabbed ahold of the woman, her arms clasped to her shoulders as she shook the woman. "Why isn't she breathing? Why isn't she moving. Why why why!" She continued, her cries stopped as Ray placed his hand on her shoulder. "She's dead Nara, thats why she's not breathing." He answered. Nara's eyes teared up, never before had Nara seen the death of a Parmian.

"Do you think (He's) behind this Rune?" Ray asked as he slowly stood to his feet. The blue-haired youth gazed on through the town. With such seriousness in his eyes he slowly nodded his head. There was no doubt in his mind that Rune's friend was behind the destruction of Nolt. Alys took a few steps towards Nara, then was shocked as a noise came from behind her.

"Ma ma mommy!" A young boy cried, the group looked as the boy crawled his way over to the woman Nara had just examined. The boy reached for his mother, but his arm slowly fell to the ground as the last bit of life faded from his body. "This is unforgivable." Ray said sadly, his fist shaking in anger. Rune began walking through the main street of Nolt, his cape swaying back and forward.

"Rune, shouldn't we at least bury these people? Its only right that we do." Ray asked. Stopping for a brief moment Rune slightly turned his head to look back at his comrades. "You guys can do what you want. But I have to go ahead, there's no time to waste." He said as he began walking again. "I can't let him get away, not again." He thought to himself. Alys began running towards Rune, passing Ray and Nara she caught up with him and walked at his pace.

"Go ahead Ray, I'll take care of this." Nara said to Ray in a silent voice. Ray tried to reply to her but his words would not reach her. She picked up the young boy first and began walking outside of town. "I'm sorry Nara. But they need me." Ray thought to himself. Quickly turning he sprinted to catch up with Rune and Alys. A large building was seen at the far edge of town, the group continued on in that direction.

"I remember this fountain. Daddy use to bring me here when he wasn't working." Alys said. The group passed by a destroyed fountain, the water that was left in it was colored red. Rune began sprinting, Alys and Ray close behind. The three ran into the giant facility that controlled the whole worldship, the building was still in perfect condition. "How come this place hasn't been destroyed?" Ray asked.

It struck the group as odd to why the town had been destroyed, but not the facility. "He must have plans for the worldship, but what?" Rune asked himself, placing his hand on his chin he thought for a brief moment. The group marched on, the facility had been completely abandoned. The further the group went in the darker it began to get, the design of the facility began to change as well.

"Whats this?" Alys asked, slowly reaching for the strange thing on the wall. Before she placed her hand on it Rune quickly grabbed ahold of her arm. "Don't touch it. It may be the black wave in its weakest form but it can kill you." He explained. Ray sweatdropped a second the he asked. "Black Wave? Ok, explain. What is this we're dealing with?" Rune placed his hand over his face, rubbing his eyes with two of his fingers.

"Not much is known about the black wave right now. All we know is that its pure darkness that can be in multiple forms. So far we've only seen two. The liquid you see flowing through these veins on the walls, this is the waves weakest form. I don't know how it is made but my guess would be that it comes from the host. I believe its actually the host's blood flowing through these veins."

"The second one we know of is actually the most deadly. Its a pure form of the wave that can eat you from the inside, slowly taking over your body like a disease. This form will cause death slowly or quickly depending on the will of the person." He explained. Runes seriousness shocked the two, but that feeling disappeared as they remembered the task at hand. "Lets go" Rune said.

The three made their way through the corridors using caution not to touch the veins on the walls. A large door with many veins blocked their path at the end of the long hallway. Runes hand began glowing a bright red as he continued to run. "FLAELI!" He yelled out. His hand ignited in a flame as it shot forward, blasting the door into oblivion. Rune quickly ran in first but the two came to a sliding halt as they ran into the large room.

"AHHHH" Rune yelled as he was struck with a giant object. Alys looked forward to notice the object retracting into a person's arm. Drawing their weapons the two looked at the man, he turned his gaze at the two. "He looks like." Ray spoke shockingly. "Rune?" Alys said. It was true, the man shrouded in black that stood before them looked exactly like Rune, the story was true.

Blood fell from Rune's head as he staggered to his feet. "So Rune, it seems you lived after all." The man spoke. With his head hanging low Rune looked towards the man and said. "Its been to long Dias, to long. So you managed to find a worldship, tell me, what are your plans for it?" Rune asked, trying to keep his balance. Dias laughed hysterically before finally speaking. He pointed his finger towards a large tube near the escape pods, the tube glowing revealing a woman inside.

"This woman is all I've been searching for! I've kept her alive for this exact moment. The bloodline ends now!" Dias yelled out. Alys stared on at the tube, her eyes filled with fear and sadness at the person who was floating inside. With his sword in hand Ray charged Dias, keeping his attention on Rune he extended his arm and with one swipe slung Ray across the room. Alys continued to look at the tube, her mind could not focus on anything else.
