What should happen in Florida and Michigan?

Should the votes count there as has already taken place?

Should they do the voting over again, at a cost that would be a burden on the state, etc.?

Should they not be counted as originally instructed would happen when the voting was moved up?

Or do you have another solution to this problem of the votes in Florida and Michigan counting, or not counting?

There's no point to taking the vote again. They've done it once and that should be enough. The votes should be counted - the people of these states didn't have a say in when the voting was held, so they should not be punished by having their voice in the government extinguished. It's a very anti-American move IMO.

If the Democratic party feels they have to save face by punishing someone, let them punish the people that actually decided to move the date up, rather than the whole state.

I'd say do the voting over again. Especially in Michigan, because Obama wasn't even on the ballot there, and that's unfair to him. They should hold these contests sometime after Pennsylvania and give the candidates some time to campaign in them. I do agree with Thoul, it's pretty undemocratic to deny the states their voice so if anyone gets punished, it should be the idiots who chose to hold the contests early even if both parties would penalize them.

I didn't know Obama wasn't on the ballot in Michigan. In that case, I agree that they should have a chance to revote there.

Yes, I've heard that Obama wasn't on the ballot in Michigan, but I have never heard why. Does anyone know why he wasn't on the ballot there? I mean, he was running as a candidate then, wasn't he? If so, it doesn't make sense why he wasn't on the ballot and why he is just now saying something about it. Why didn't he protest or say something then?

I think they should let them stand just as they are, and count them this way. I mean, this is how the voters voted in the first place and it would seem silly to revote again. Also, I've heard that the states (atleast Florida) will not pay for it either, so it would have to be funded some other way.

They messed up here, I believe. So either you voted for Hillary or...not. Not much of an option, is it?

Edwards was probably on the ballot back then. I guess he would have been the alternative.

Okay, I posted something on this topic yesterday, but it was lost due to the board problems, etc. So, I will try to remember what I posted, lol.

Anyway, it had to do with the reason why Obama was not on the ballot in Michigan. The reason Obama was not on the ballot in Michigan was because he withdrew his name off the ballot. In that case, I think the voting should stand just as it is now.

Here's a little more describing how the voting and ballotting in Michigan, etc., happened:

Oh yeah, I forgot to add that today's news is that the Rev. Al Sharpton is threatening to sue if the votes in FL are counted as they are. He says it is unfair and he wants another solution.

At this point, no matter what they do, someone is going to cry " it is unfair ".

True, they'll never find a way to please everyone. I guess Obama had given up on that one ballot because he knew it wasn't going to count. That explains why Clinton has been so vocal about getting the ballots to count and Obama hasn't. It benefits her a lot more than him.
