For those that have played the latest installment in the series, what's your impression of it? I haven't gotten the game yet, so I'm curious as to what everyone thinks about it. Is the single player game any good? How similar is the game to PSO?

Unless you go online with it, it pretty much sucks. Story mode lasted me less than 24 hours, and in Extra mode, if you work at it you can get to level 100 in one sitting.

*sigh* It's really as bad as I've heard? Because I'm never going to go online with it if I buy the PS2 version.

It's okay, but it just feels broken. If you play it online like I did at a friend's house once, you never want to go back to offline because it's so different. Offline is so easy it's not even funny.

The story seems to have many elements from PSII
besides the similarity of the planet's names and star system name we have:
- An artificial satellite colliding with Parma's surface (I mean Parmu)
- We are agents/guardians like Eusis and our boss reminds Eusis'
- We have a little sister (nei at some point was a little sister to Eusis)
- There is a Motherbrain and she also becomes mad...
- There is a secret about our ancestor (instead of beeing our grand grand mother... is our father)
- Lou "dies"
- A guy named Tyler saves our skin
as you may know there's a an official moving comic here

Though at first glance it seems blastphamous to the original four-part installment of the series, PSU is actualy worth the buy. You can play the game at a slow, steady pace and create your own weapons, level up your techniques, gain meseta, etc. and still find time to complete the main storyline. Depending on which role you take (Hunter, Ranger, or Force), you can vary the difficulty of the game. At first I was a little hesitant to make the purchase, but now I have absolutaly no regrets.

I haven't played PSU yet. I'm thinking about it very strongly. I'll let you know what I think about it when I play.

I have PSU ( PS2) but never played it online (are there free servers??)
It's not bad but nothing special either (but that could be the problem of being able to play story mode only).
I bought Ambition too but i have not played it at all...

From what I've played of it It isn't a terrible game but I do agree that it is missing something. But I have never played it online so I can't compare its online play. But Its definitly worth checking out.
